Cirrhosis

What is Cirrhosis?

Cirrhosis is a progressive liver disease in which healthy liver tissue is replaced by scar tissue, impairing liver function. Cirrhosis can be caused by a variety of factors, including chronic alcohol consumption, viral hepatitis, and fatty liver disease. Symptoms of cirrhosis can include fatigue, jaundice, and abdominal swelling.

When is it necessary to see a doctor?

If you have symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, or abdominal swelling, it's important to see a doctor to determine the underlying cause of cirrhosis and receive appropriate treatment to prevent further liver damage. Treatment for cirrhosis may involve medications to manage symptoms and slow the progression of the disease, as well as lifestyle modifications such as avoiding alcohol and maintaining a healthy diet.
