Simple Ways to Maintain Healthy Habits This Summer
How to maintain healthy habits without missing out on summer fun.

A primary care membership for patients who want more. Primary Care. Nutrition. Wellness. All under one roof.
Summer often brings a shift in routine—vacations, longer days, social events—but that doesn’t mean your healthy habits have to fall by the wayside. Here’s how to stay on track while still enjoying the season:
Stick to Your Core Habits
When life gets busy, focus on three non-negotiables—or as our wellness advisor Rachel calls them, your “3 pillars.” These might be daily movement, staying hydrated, and eating balanced meals. Small, consistent actions help anchor your wellness routine even when things get unpredictable.
Eat Seasonally
Summer produce is at its peak—berries, stone fruit, watermelon, cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, and more. Fill at least half your plate with fruits and vegetables at each meal to get the most flavor and nutrients.
Prioritize Protein (Especially in the Morning)
Start your day with a protein-rich breakfast to keep you feeling satisfied and energized for hours. Prioritizing protein in the morning helps stabilize hunger hormones, making you less likely to overeat or reach for unnecessary snacks later in the day. A high-protein smoothie is a summer go-to—cool, refreshing, and endlessly customizable to suit your taste and nutritional needs. And here are 10 high protein breakfast ideas that aren’t eggs.
Hydration is Non-Negotiable
- Aim to drink your body weight in ounces of water daily
- Keep a reusable water bottle with you
- Add electrolytes (we love the new lemonade flavor!) on especially hot or active days
- Alternate alcoholic drinks with water or opt for mocktails like sparkling water with lime and mint
Move Your Body Outdoors
Take advantage of the sunshine—go for a walk, swim, or bike ride. Outdoor movement offers both physical benefits and a healthy dose of vitamin D. Just don’t forget the sunscreen!
Don’t Skimp on Sleep
Late sunsets and busy calendars can cut into rest, but quality sleep is key to feeling your best. Try to maintain a consistent bedtime and create a wind-down routine that supports restful sleep.
